Artigo na Time: The Second World War in Italy: was it worth it? The folly and brutality of war, from Sicily to the Po Valley

* My grandfather was there. He was an American soldier. He also said that General Clark was awful. He didn't keep his men supplied with what they needed. My grandfather's platoon marched up a hill in battle, and only seven came back including my grandfather. RIP- John Tuders(1925-1990)-my grandpa.

* My mom lived in Nazi-occupied Northern Italy during WWII. She will confirm the Allied effort wasn't worth it. The Italians feared Allied aerial bombing more than they feared German occupation. Tony Pivetta, Royal Oak, Michigan, U.S.A.
